PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - West Java Provincial Government launched the soap opera Kabayan Millennial 2 at Gedung Sate, Bandung City, Friday (7/6/2024).

The soap opera Kabayan Millennial 2 consists of 24 episodes featuring the main character Kabayan, in collaboration with TVRI Nasional.

The humorous soap opera will appear on the small screen starting Saturday (8/6/2024) every 17.00 WIB on the National TVRI channel.

Representing the Acting Governor of West Java, Head of the West Java Communication and Information Service, Ika Mardiah, in his speech said that the collaboration program with TVRI aims to maintain the culture and promotion of West Java through soap operas.

"The West Java Provincial Government created Kabayan Millennial 2 with the aim of maintaining local wisdom, traditional values, packaged in relevant packaging, attractive to the younger generation," said Ika Mardiah.

The production of this soap opera prioritizes tourism promotion with filming locations in West Java.

"Tourism promotions such as highlighting natural beauty, culture and so on. The format is more modern with the aim of being a meeting point for traditional values with millennials," he added.

According to Ika, the important messages in this soap opera are issues of honesty, integrity, friendship, creativity and maintaining traditions.

"This is in line and included in West Java's vision and mission to care for culture," concluded Ika.

Director and actor of Kabayan Millenial 2 Dicky Chandra said that Kabayan Millenial 2 in its story wants to show that the figure of Kabayan has been identified with laziness, stupidity even though he is funny, in this soap opera Kabayan is portrayed as a scholar, has a business, is educated but still has a local character and is kind. .

"That's what is actually shown, changing Kabayan's image to be creative, intelligent but still humorous," said Dicky.

Former West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan, who also starred in Kabayan Millennial 2, said that this soap opera conveys a religious message with joy and happiness.

"Religion was born to make you happy, so its message must be presented with joy to give birth to happiness," said Kang Aher - Ahmad Heryawan's nickname.

Meanwhile, Managing Director of LPP TVRI Iman Broto Seno said that TVRI was very proud to broadcast Kabayan Millenial 2, in accordance with TVRI's duties as LPP which must care for diversity.

"We are always open to working with anyone to care for diversity," he said.

Kabayan Milineal 2 stars several senior players such as Dicky Candra and Ki Daus. Ragil (Kabayan), Kania (Iteung), Keri Lestari (Ambu).

Two former Governors of West Java also play, namely Ahmad Heryawan as Kiai and Ridwan Kamil as a relative of Kabayan.
