PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG REGENCY - The West Java Provincial Government continues to accelerate the construction of the Legok Nangka Regional Final Waste Processing and Processing Facility (TPPAS) located in Nagreg District, Bandung Regency.
During his visit on Friday (14/2/2025), the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of West Java, Herman Suryatman, ensured that this strategic project was running according to plan with an operational target in 2028.
"Legok Nangka is already underway, especially in the development of supporting infrastructure. Currently, the landfill sanitation installation has been installed and will be used to accommodate waste management residue from the main facility," said Herman.
The construction process of the main facilities of Legok Nangka TPPAS is currently underway. The West Java Provincial Government is targeting financial close in December 2025, which means that all financing requirements can be met so that the project can immediately enter the physical construction phase.
"If financial close is achieved on schedule, physical construction can begin. This is an important step so that the project can run on time," said Herman.
Construction Starts January 2026
The physical construction of the waste management installation will be carried out by PT Jabar Environmental Solutions (JES) as the managing business entity. This installation uses waste-to-energy technology with the incinerator method, which is designed to process waste from five districts/cities in the Greater Bandung area.
Construction is scheduled to begin in January 2026, and if all goes well, the facility is projected to start operating in two years at the earliest or three years at the most. Thus, Legok Nangka TPPAS is expected to be fully operational in 2028.
Herman emphasized that the operational success of the Legok Nangka TPPAS is highly dependent on the capacity of the Sarimukti Final Disposal Site (TPA), which is estimated to only last until 2027. Therefore, the West Java Provincial Government will seek to extend the service life of the Sarimukti TPA until 2028.
"We need a joint effort in reducing, utilizing, and recycling waste in Greater Bandung. The participation of all parties, including the community, is needed so that the Sarimukti TPA can survive until 2028. That way, in 2029 Legok Nangka can be fully operational," said Herman.
The West Java Provincial Government is fully committed to completing this project on time to address the waste problem in the Greater Bandung area. Herman emphasized that his party will work hard so that the Legok Nangka TPPAS can operate soon.
"We ask for prayers and blessings from the people of West Java. We at the Provincial Government will make every effort so that Legok Nangka can be operational soon and provide benefits to the community," said Herman.
The Legok Nangka TPPAS project is expected to not only be a solution for regional waste management, but also contribute to producing renewable energy through waste-to-energy technology.
