DENPASAR, BALI -- The West Java Provincial Government has implemented blockchain technology in the government and public service sectors so that data is safer and its integrity is maintained.
"West Java has implemented blockchain technology in digital transformation in the government sector," said West Java Regional Secretary Herman Suryatman, in Denpasar Bali, Tuesday (21/5/2024).
To finalize the implementation, Regional Secretary Herman discussed with the IT community at the Bali Blockchain Center in the Creative Hub Building, Denpasar. Blockchain itself is a technology used as a digital data storage system or data bank.
Herman said, if blockchain technology is applied in the government sector, data security and safety will be more guaranteed. Apart from that, implementing blockchain is a mitigation step against data leaks and misuse which is currently widespread.
"Just had a long discussion with friends at the creative hub, especially blockchain, which blockchain will guarantee the security and integrity of the data we have," he said.
"I think this is a mitigation or anticipatory step to maintain our digital sovereignty," added Herman.
The application of blockchain in database management is one of the West Java Provincial Government's commitments in digital transformation. The output is for the welfare of society.
"The ending is to improve the welfare of society in a fast but safe manner with digital technology as a tool," concluded Herman.
In the initial stages of implementing blockchain technology in the West Java Provincial Government, it is used for government administration which will then be applied to public services. Currently the integration process is underway and the target is to be completed in early June.
