PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The West Java Provincial Government together with broadcasting institutions have agreed to produce educational broadcast content for a safe, smooth, peaceful, and transparent Simultaneous Regional Election.

The West Java Provincial Government through the Communication and Information Service collaborates with the West Java Regional Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPID), including TVRI stations, Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI), and the Central Indonesian Broadcasting Commission.

According to the Acting Governor of West Java, Bey Machmudin, the collaboration between the Provincial Government and broadcasting institutions refers to the Jabar Anteng (Safe, Neutral, Calm) Declaration which was proven to bring West Java to a conducive situation during the Presidential Election on February 14.

With the spirit and principles of Jabar Anteng, it is hoped that the same conduciveness will be created in the gubernatorial election and the election of mayors/regents which will be held simultaneously on November 27, 2024 .

"We have declared Jabar Anteng and hope that the community will respond to this democratic process with full maturity, remaining united and united amidst differences in political views," said Bey Machmudin at Gedung Sate, Bandung City, Wednesday (28/8/2024).

As a province with the largest population of almost 50 million people, and the largest DPT of around 35 million voters, West Java has been relatively successful in holding elections. One of them is the neutrality of the state civil apparatus.

"We are among the provinces with the lowest violations committed by ASN. We are safe and continue to survive and prioritize this principle," said Bey Machmudin.

According to him, broadcasting institutions play a crucial role as information media that can shape public opinion and influence public perception about the regional elections.

Bey believes that collaboration between all stakeholders in monitoring broadcasting is very important to ensure that the information received by the public is correct, neutral and educational.

The collaboration between the Provincial Government and broadcasting institutions also includes monitoring publication content on the Provincial Government's publication channels, as well as monitoring digital media content in collaboration with media in West Java.

The goal is to increase the participation of first-time voters. From the profile of the West Java Permanent Voters List (DPT), Genzi with an age range of 17 - 24 years old is around 7.4 million people, and millennials (25-39 years old) are around 11.6 million people.

Groups of new voters in particular need to be given awareness about elections through healthy information, one of which is through broadcasting institutions.

From this collaboration there will be many joint activities, including digital literacy classes, discussions on ASN neutrality through IKP Talks, the creation of a broadcast content monitoring system (Pasagi) through gubernatorial regulations, and the integration of complaint systems through the Sapawarga application.

The collaboration between the Provincial Government and broadcasting institutions with the spirit of Jabar Anteng received appreciation from the DPR who specifically visited West Java.

Member of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives Junico Siahaan assessed that West Java has proven to be a province with a high level of conduciveness during the Presidential Election. Nico is confident that the same success can be achieved during the Simultaneous Regional Elections.

"West Java is truly calm, neutral, and we hope the same conditions will also occur in the regional elections that we will hold in about three months from now," said Nico.

According to Nico, the Pilkada will be more lively because every city district will hold elections. Educational information is needed, one of which is from broadcasting institutions.

"But the large reach of the media carries the risk of spreading disinformation. That (educational information) is the goal of this collaboration, so it's not just neutrality. Our challenge is digital disruption," he said.
