PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The West Java Provincial Government has allocated a budget of IDR 2.4 trillion for handling provincial roads as well as replacing and rehabilitating bridges on provincial roads.
"This is our focus for this year and next year," said Governor Dedi Mulyadi, via his personal Instagram account.
According to KDM – Dedi Mulyadi's nickname, after all provincial roads are complete and in perfect condition, the provincial government will provide stimulus to regencies/cities that do not have the budget capacity to handle roads and bridges.
"Once again, those who do not have the financial capacity to build roads, must immediately complete the construction of district/city roads. After that, I will definitely evaluate the budget they have," said Dedi.
"Don't let it be that there is no space for walking, there is space for other activities," he added.
Meanwhile, for village roads, according to Dedi, there are already village funds. If villages do not have the ability because their areas are very large and the allocation of village funds is insufficient, his party will provide stimulus for the construction of village roads.
"The stimulus will be given on the condition that the village funds can be implemented optimally and usually do not have the financial capacity to build roads due to budget constraints," he said.
"The budget will not be focused on West Java jointly between village governments, city and district governments and the West Java provincial government, as well as the central government," he said.
The authority for managing and handling roads in West Java, according to Law Number 2 of 2022 concerning Roads, is divided into several levels, namely the Central Government is responsible for the repair and maintenance of national roads.
The West Java Provincial Government through the West Java DBMPR is responsible for the repair and maintenance of provincial roads, and the city and district governments are responsible for the repair and maintenance of city and district roads.
The West Java BMPR Service is responsible for coordinating and implementing provincial road management in the West Java region, as well as ensuring that the roads in the province are in good condition and safe to travel on.
Meanwhile, the level of road stability in West Java has reached 86.44 percent by the end of 2024 and is targeted to increase to 87.51 percent by the end of 2025 through road repairs of 272 kilometers.
In 2024, the West Java BMPR Service has completed repairs to 221 kilometers of roads and repaired five bridges.
