PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The government encourages the public to have a Business Identification Number (NIB) through the Online Single Submission (OSS) system which allows business registration to be carried out easily, quickly, and free of charge (20/4/2026).
The Business Identification Number is the official identity of business actors that is valid nationally and is integrated with various other business licensing services.
This digital-based licensing system allows people to manage their business legality independently without having to come to the service office.
The Business Identification Number functions as a business actor's identity and also replaces several licensing documents such as the Company Registration Certificate (TDP), Import Identification Number (API), and customs access.
The Business Identification Number is also the basis for registration of membership in the Social Security Administration for Employment (BPJS) and the Social Security Administration for Health (BPJS) for business actors.
The risk-based OSS system divides business activities into four categories, namely low risk, medium low risk, medium high risk, and high risk.
Low-risk businesses only need a Business Identification Number, while higher-risk businesses require a standard certificate or additional permits.
The risk level determination is carried out automatically by the system based on the Indonesian Standard Classification of Business Fields (KBLI) selected during registration.
Individual business actors can register by preparing their Population Identification Number (NIK), email address, active telephone number, and business data such as business name, address, business sector, capital, and estimated turnover.
Business actors with legal entities need to prepare the company's deed of establishment, approval from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, the business entity's Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP), and management data.
Registration is done by creating an account on the OSS system via the https://oss.go.id page, then entering the business licensing menu to fill in the business data completely.
The system will verify the inputted data before issuing a Business Identification Number according to the business risk classification.
The process of issuing a Business Identification Number for low-risk businesses can take place in a short time after the data is declared complete.
The government reminds the public to be careful of parties offering Business Identification Number processing services by asking for fees.
The service for creating a Business Identification Number through the official OSS system is free of charge and can be done independently by the public.
