PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - Acting Regent of Bekasi, Dr. Asep Surya Atmaja, expressed his appreciation for PT. Jababeka Infrastruktur's support of the Bekasi Regency Government's efforts to maintain the function and smooth operation of irrigation channels to support community agricultural activities. This support was demonstrated through community service activities to clean irrigation channels in Pebayuran District, Tuesday (October 6, 2026).
The community service activities targeted the Secondary Channels BKG 26 to BKG 35. These channels are an important part of water distribution to irrigate agricultural land in the Pebayuran area.
Asep stated that optimally functioning irrigation channels are crucial for the smooth running of agricultural activities and land productivity. Therefore, continuous canal maintenance requires the involvement of various parties.
"Irrigation canals are more than just water infrastructure. For the community, especially farmers, the existence of well-functioning irrigation canals is crucial for the smooth running of agricultural activities and land productivity," said Asep.
According to him, cleaning the BKG 26 to BKG 35 channels may seem simple. However, this activity provides immediate benefits if it can maintain the smooth flow of water to agricultural land.
Therefore, Asep appreciated PT. Jababeka Infrastruktur's involvement through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, which was implemented in collaboration with the Pebayuran District Government and the community.
He assessed that the involvement of the business world showed that maintaining agricultural infrastructure was a shared responsibility.
"The government cannot work alone. The business sector has a role, the public has a role, and the government has a responsibility to ensure all these efforts work together and deliver real benefits," he said.
Asep added that maintaining the function of irrigation channels is not sufficient through construction or normalization alone. Routine maintenance is also necessary to ensure the channels continue to function properly in the long term.
For this reason, he invited the public to take part in maintaining the channels that have been cleaned and not turning them into rubbish dumps.
"Let's protect the drains that have been cleaned and not reuse them for dumping waste. Maintaining infrastructure is our shared responsibility," he stressed.
Asep also urged the Pebayuran community to maintain the spirit of mutual cooperation in maintaining the irrigation infrastructure. He believes that collaboration between the government, the business sector, and the community can help address various issues more quickly and provide broader benefits.
Pebayuran is a key agricultural area in Bekasi Regency. Therefore, a smooth irrigation system is crucial for maintaining agricultural productivity and supporting regional food security.
Asep hopes that the cleaning activity will not stop as a one-day event, but will become part of a consistent effort to maintain the irrigation channels.
"If we maintain our irrigation channels together, our agriculture will be strong. If we work together, the benefits for the people of Bekasi Regency will be even greater," he said.
He also expressed his appreciation to PT. Jababeka Infrastruktur, the Pebayuran District Government, village officials, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri), farmers, and the entire community involved in the activity.
For the Bekasi Regency Government, maintaining smooth irrigation is a crucial part of maintaining agricultural productivity. A smooth flow of water to agricultural land is a key factor in sustaining community food production.
