PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - The Bekasi Regency Government through the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) in collaboration with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) distributed clean water and water storage facilities to drought-affected communities in Cihanjuang Hamlet, Ridogalih Village, Cibarusah District, Saturday (18/7/2026).

This assistance includes 20,000 liters of clean water, two water tanks with a capacity of 5,000 liters, two water tanks with a capacity of 2,000 liters, 200 jerry cans, and 100 buckets to help meet the community's clean water needs.

During the activity, the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Bekasi Regency, Endin Samsudin, directly led the distribution of clean water, together with the Head of Cibarusah District, elements of the TNI and Polri, representatives of the Central PMI, Bekasi Regency PMI, Bekasi Regency BPBD, and the Ridogalih Village Government.

Regional Secretary Endin Samsudin said that the drought in Bekasi Regency began to be felt at the end of June 2026 and by mid-July had impacted several areas.

"Of the 23 sub-districts in Bekasi Regency, four are affected by the drought. The impact is most felt in the southern region, namely Cibarusah, Bojongmangu, and Serang Baru Sub-districts, as well as one sub-district in the northern region. All of these areas are receiving attention from the Bekasi Regency Government," he said.

According to Endin, drought management is carried out through collaboration between the Bekasi Regency Government, the Central Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), the Bekasi Regency PMI, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), sub-district governments, village governments, and various other parties.

He appreciated the support of the Central PMI which also distributed aid in the form of water tanks to be placed at strategic points so that the distribution of clean water to the community could run more optimally.

"We would like to thank the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) for their assistance. For clean water supplies, we are collaborating with Perumda Tirta Bhagasasi through the Bekasi Regency PMI so that distribution to the community can be carried out regularly, especially in areas affected by drought," he said.

Endin explained that the Bekasi Regency Government has also prepared long-term measures by expanding the Perumda Tirta Bhagasasi (PDAM) pipe network so that clean water services can reach the entire community optimally.

He said that in Ridogalih Village, the clean water network has currently reached Hamlets I and II, while Hamlet III is still a priority for service development.

"Going forward, we hope that the community's need for clean water can be met sustainably through optimization of the pipe network so that drought will no longer be a problem every dry season," he said.

Endin added that the clean water assistance currently being distributed is very beneficial for the community to meet their daily needs, such as bathing, washing, cooking, and other household needs.

"The Bekasi Regency Government will continue to strengthen collaboration with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), village governments, and the business community to ensure that drought impacts can be addressed quickly, accurately, and sustainably to meet the community's basic needs," he concluded.
