PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - Acting Regent of Bekasi Asep Surya Atmaja ensured that the availability of basic necessities for the community remained safe ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah after monitoring prices and stocks at Tambun Market, South Tambun District (05/03/2026).

Asep directly reviewed trading activities with the Bekasi Regency Regional Leadership Coordination Forum to ensure that the public can still obtain basic necessities at reasonable prices during Ramadan.

He explained that monitoring results showed that several commodities experienced price increases due to increased public demand.

"After checking, we found that the prices of several items have increased due to increased public demand. However, as of now, there are no shortages; everything is still available on the market," said Asep.

He said that commodities whose prices had increased included chilies, sugar, eggs, and meat, which are the main needs of the community during Ramadan.

Asep said the price of chilies in the market is in the range of IDR 45,000 to IDR 100,000 per kilogram, while other commodities only experienced an increase of around IDR 2,000 to IDR 3,000.

"The most significant increase is in chilies. Prices are around Rp 45,000 to Rp 100,000 per kilogram. The increase in other items is relatively small, only around Rp 2,000 to Rp 3,000," said Asep.

He emphasized that the price increase occurred due to increased public demand, not because of a shortage of goods in the market.

"If we look at the availability of goods, everything is there and safe. So it's not because of a shortage, but because of increased public demand during Ramadan," said Asep.

The Bekasi Regency Government is preparing price control measures through market operations so that people can continue to buy basic necessities at affordable prices.

"We will conduct market operations. We are also currently going directly to the markets to see which items have seen price increases so we can take immediate action," said Asep.

Helmi Yenti, Head of the Staple Goods and Essential Goods Control Division of the Bekasi Regency Trade Office, explained that the availability of staple goods during Ramadan is still sufficient for the community's needs.

He said the price of chicken meat had started to fall from IDR 45 thousand to around IDR 40 thousand per kilogram, while beef had returned to the reference purchase price of around IDR 140 thousand per kilogram.

Helmi explained that the increase in the price of cayenne pepper was influenced by reduced production from supplier areas due to extreme weather.

"We're not a chili-producing region. Normally, supplies come from Garut, but extreme weather conditions there have reduced production, impacting prices," Helmi said.

He added that the Bekasi Regency Trade Office would increase supplies from other regions and strengthen supervision of staple food distribution with the Food Task Force to ensure prices remain under control.

Routine monitoring is carried out in collaboration with the police and related parties to ensure that distribution runs smoothly so that the public can obtain basic necessities at reasonable prices.
