PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - The Bekasi Regency Government has confirmed its commitment to reducing unemployment rates by accelerating the absorption of local workers. The Deputy Regent of Bekasi, Asep Surya Atmaja, is rolling out a roadshow program to industrial companies as part of the 100-day workweek, with a recruitment target of up to 1,000 local workers per month.
During a visit to PT Jaya Refrigeration (Midea Indonesia) and PT Matel Indonesia, Wednesday (23/4/2025), Asep said that a direct approach to the field has proven to be more effective in understanding industry needs. From the dialogue with Midea management, an initial commitment to recruit 200 people was obtained, which has the potential to increase to 1,000 starting in May 2025.
"We have to be proactive. If we just wait in the office, we don't know what the company really needs," he said.
The district government also emphasized the importance of local human resource readiness, not only in terms of technical skills, but also mentality, discipline, and work ethics. "We want Bekasi residents to become superior workers," Asep emphasized.
Acting Head of the Manpower Office, Nur Hidayah Setyowati, stated that since 2023, the Manpower Office has encouraged transparency of job vacancy information and given awards to companies that actively report. This year, the award was upgraded to a plaque signed by the Regent, and the Regency Government is reviewing additional incentives such as tax relaxation.
Other efforts are made through training and skills certification with BNSP and BLK. To ensure that workers truly come from the region, the Bekasi KTP domicile requirement is now strengthened with an educational background in Bekasi Regency.
The Manpower Office is targeting a minimum of 500 workers to be absorbed per month until the upcoming Job Fair. Through industrial synergy, improving the quality of human resources, and policy incentives, the Bekasi Regency Government is trying to build an inclusive and sustainable employment ecosystem as a real step towards a Bekasi that is reviving, advancing, and prosperous.
