PORTALJABAR, BOGOR REGENCY - The Bogor Regency Government (Pemkab) is trying to improve the Hajj pilgrimage service to the community, one of which is by building a Hajj Service Center in the Pakansari Stadium area. Various facilities will be provided for Hajj pilgrims at the service center to maintain their health and enthusiasm for going to the holy land.
This was stated by the Regional Secretary of Bogor Regency, Ajat Rochmat Jatnika, during a zoom with TVRI representing the Regent of Bogor, Rudy Susmanto, at the Regent's Pendopo, on Tuesday (6/5/2025).
Ajat said that this step was a response to the high level of public enthusiasm in performing the Hajj pilgrimage.
The quota for Hajj pilgrims in Bogor Regency is the largest in Indonesia, this year it even reached 3,513 people.
By April 2025, the number of applicants had reached around 77,620 people. With the current system, the waiting period for departure could be up to 23 years.
One of the facilities at the Hajj Service Center is the Pakansari Grand Mosque which is built on 2.5 hectares of land. The mosque is projected as an icon of hajj service and can accommodate up to 10,000 people. The mosque is also equipped with a miniature Kaaba and the original Kiswah as a center for hajj manasik education.
The Grand Mosque will be directly connected to the Pakansari Stadium parking area and is designed with an underground road concept so as not to disrupt traffic.
"We built a Hajj service center so that they feel served and cared for," added Ajat.
To realize the hajj embarkation, the Bogor Regency Government has also collaborated with the Indonesian Hajj Brotherhood Association (IPHI) which has provided strategic land for the construction of a hajj dormitory with a capacity of 200 rooms. In addition, several local tourist hotels are also prepared as additional facilities when the hajj season arrives.
The Hajj Service Center facilities will continue to be improved until 2026. The Bogor Regency Government will also build a manasik system and integration of transportation facilities. If everything goes according to plan, this facility will be fully operational no later than 2027.
In terms of regulation and funding, Ajat stated that intensive coordination had been carried out with the Ministry of Religion, the Indonesian House of Representatives, and the central government.
Ajat emphasized that the construction of the Hajj Service Center is not just a physical project, but part of the overall development of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims.
"We want the congregation who are still waiting to be served, both spiritually, mentally, and knowledgeally. Therefore, this service center will also be a center for education and worship coaching," he said.
With a strong commitment and support from the central and provincial governments, Bogor Regency targets to become a pilot project for integrated, modern, and sustainable management of Hajj and Umrah services in Indonesia.
