PORTALJABAR, BOGOR REGENCY - The Bogor Regency Government has established a program to plant one hectare of urban forest in each sub-district to provide green space, cleaner air, and a healthy environment for residents, through Regent's Instruction Number 100.4.4.2/910-DLH signed on 12/31/2025.

Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto directed this policy as a response to climate change that impacts air quality, flood risk, and community comfort.

The instruction requires all regional apparatus to move simultaneously starting January 2026 until simultaneous planting throughout Bogor Regency on June 5, 2026, coinciding with World Environment Day.

The Regional Secretary was appointed as the main coordinator who controls the program, prepares monthly reports, and facilitates memorandums of understanding with PTPN I Regional Dua and PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa.

The Environmental Service provides technical assistance and field evaluations to ensure that planting is in the right location, the right type, and provides long-term ecological benefits for local residents.

The sub-district heads are responsible for providing a minimum of one hectare of urban forest land and raising funds through corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility in their area.

Regional Work Units and Regionally-Owned Enterprises assist the assisted sub-districts by providing seeds, facilities, and infrastructure, so that the program can run without waiting for a new budget.

Types of plants include Jabon, Balsa, and Albasia for rapid carbon absorption, Pulai and Kemang as local identities, as well as fruit trees that can be utilized by residents.

Residents around the city forest area feel the addition of green public space for family activities as well as protection from heat and puddles during heavy rain.

"This program is a collaborative effort. I instruct all elements to prioritize the principle of mutual cooperation to restore Bogor Regency to a green and sustainable state," said Rudy Susmanto. (Bogor Regency Communications and Information Office/bhf)
