PORTALJABAR, BOGOR REGENCY - The Bogor Regency Government (Pemkab) has begun developing Parung Market as the first step in transforming the economic area in the northern region of Bogor Regency.
Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto said that the development of Parung Market is not only focused on controlling street vendors (PKL), but is part of a more integrated and sustainable regional development strategy.
According to him, the development of the area is a priority in line with the planned entry of large investments in the 2026–2027 period in the Kemang, Ciseeng, and Parung areas.
"This arrangement must be implemented fairly and measurably. It cannot be done in a piecemeal manner. Street vendors, cleanliness, traffic, and market facilities must be handled in one integrated system," said Rudy Susmanto.
He also emphasized the importance of establishing an integrated command post with a legal basis through a Decree (SK), as well as strengthening personnel in the field, including adding casual daily workers (PHL) at a number of strategic points.
Bogor Regency Regional Secretary Ajat Rochmat Jatnika explained that the area's development is being carried out in stages. After focusing on the Cibinong area, attention is now shifting to Parung as the next strategic area.
"The concept isn't about eviction, but about reorganization. Street vendors will still be provided with facilities, but with a neater and more comfortable layout," Ajat explained.
He added that the development of the Parung area also includes optimizing old assets, such as the previously unused terminal. The terminal is currently being reactivated and will be integrated with Parung Market.
According to him, this integration will also be complemented by the construction of road access that will facilitate public mobility without having to make long detours.
The President Director of Perumda Pasar Tohaga said that his party had prepared technical steps for arrangement, including relocating street vendors to the market area.
A total of 700 stalls have been prepared to accommodate traders, especially those operating in the vegetable, freshwater, and chicken and fish commodity sectors.
"This restructuring not only involves relocating street vendors but also cleaning up the area in front of the market. This area will be designated a red zone before its use is determined," he said.
He added that the area has the potential to be developed into a park or ornamental fish center.
Perumda Pasar Tohaga also targets the Parung area to develop into an ornamental fish center that is able to compete at the regional level and become one of the largest in Southeast Asia.
Through synergy between the local government, regional apparatus, and Perumda Pasar Tohaga, the development of Parung Market is expected to become the gateway to a comprehensive regional transformation while simultaneously encouraging new economic growth in Bogor Regency.
