PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - The Regent of Garut, Abdusy Syakur Amin, handed over the land certificate for Limbangan Square from the Garut Regency Government to the Limbangan District Government at the Limbangan District Office Hall, Garut Regency, Tuesday (26/5/2026).
The Regent of Garut expressed his appreciation for the role of the Indonesian National Youth Committee (KNPI) of Limbangan District in ensuring legal certainty for the Limbangan Square land. He stated that the youths' aspirations were persuasive and resulted in concrete steps to clarify the status of the regional asset.
"It's not enough to just hand over the certificate; we need to understand how we utilize this land to provide meaningful benefits for our community, including social, community, and economic activities," said Abdusy Syakur Amin.
The Garut Regent emphasized the Garut Regency Government's commitment to continuing to support the development of the Limbangan Square area within the region's capabilities. Legal certainty over the land is expected to boost community productivity.
Meanwhile, Limbangan Sub-district Head Guriansyah Sukiran welcomed the Garut Regent's presence at the event. He noted that Limbangan Square holds significant historical value for the Garut community.
"Limbangan Square is the starting point of Garut's history, a playground, and a meeting place for the Limbangan community and children. The square is also a landmark and icon that reflects the philosophy of its people," explained Guriansyah.
Guriansyah explained that the process of clarifying the land status of Limbangan Square had encountered obstacles, impacting the area's revitalization plans. This issue was also raised at the Regency Musrenbang forum in Selaawi District, hoping that Limbangan Square could develop and compete with other squares.
The Limbangan Sub-district Head is optimistic that Limbangan Square can develop into a new, representative icon of the Limbangan region with the support of green open space (RTH) facilities and adequate parking areas.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Limbangan District KNPI, Aziz Abdurahman, explained the long journey of various community elements in ensuring legal certainty for Limbangan Square.
On January 22, 2025, the Forkopimcam (Campus Leadership Communication Forum) and the Regional Leadership Communication Association (APDESI) from 14 villages, along with the National Committee for the Development of the Indonesian National Awakening (KNPI), discussed the Limbangan spatial planning process and issued an official letter of assignment to KNPI to oversee the issue. The discussion then continued on February 3, 2025, with a hearing with Commission I of the Garut Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) regarding the clarity of the Limbangan spatial planning process.
The KNPI held another discussion with Commission III of the Garut Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) on January 7, 2026, with the support of the Regional Development Planning Agency (BPKAD) and the ATR/BPN. The minutes and minutes of the meeting were then submitted to the relevant parties, ultimately receiving the attention of the Deputy Regent of Garut.
"Thank God, thanks to the leadership of the Regent, Deputy Regent, sub-district head, APDESI Limbangan, and KNPI, we have all made history. The homework that has been dragging on for so long now has clear legal certainty," said Aziz.
The head of the KNPI (National Student Association) in Limbangan District emphasized that the younger generation must remain productive and play a role as agents of change in regional development. (Garut Communications and Information Service/rka)
