PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government is preparing to improve Jalan Soekarno-Hatta from Cibereum to Cibiru with sidewalks, public street lighting, and pedestrian bridges.

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan said the arrangement of these public facilities would be coordinated with the West Java Provincial Government and the central government.

Coordination is necessary because facility development and land use involve the authority of three levels of government.

"Yes, it will be done soon. We are coordinating with the provincial and central governments, as the authority lies with these three parties," said Farhan (September 2, 2026).

The Bandung City Government ensures that all administrative processes are completed so that the construction of public facilities runs according to regulations.

"We're doing our best. We apologize, but this is an administrative matter. We want to ensure order. We're ensuring there are no concerning violations," he said.

This arrangement is still being pushed because the public's need for safe, comfortable, and easy-to-use road facilities is a primary concern.

Farhan explained that development using city government funds on central government land requires permission from the relevant government.

The use of facilities in vocational high schools also requires coordination because the authority lies with the West Java Provincial Government.

"For example, the city government has the budget, God willing. But it's being built on land owned by the central government, so I have to seek permission from the central government first. So, who is it for? Who is the vocational school under? The provincial government," he explained.

Farhan ensured that the differences in authority would not hinder the integrated development plan for the Soekarno-Hatta Road corridor.

"Yes, it's very possible. This year we will begin renovating Soekarno-Hatta Street," he said.

The development of the Soekarno-Hatta Road corridor from Cibereum to Cibiru is targeted to begin in stages in October 2026.

"This October, we'll get everything underway. We've already agreed on the Soekarno-Hatta route from Cibereum to Cibiru, and we've already released the program for it. We'll work together to tidy up the sidewalks, street lights, and pedestrian bridges," he said.
