PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) is giving appreciation in the form of kadeudeuh money to sports people who excel at the 21st National Sports Week (PON) and the XVII National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) in 2024.

The award ceremony was held at the Horison Hotel, Bandung City, Wednesday (4/12/2024), attended by the Acting Mayor of Bandung A. Koswara, Head of the Bandung City Youth and Sports Service (Dispora) Edy Marwoto, and Deputy Chairman of the Bandung City DPRD Edwin Senjaya.

Koswara expressed his pride in the achievements of Bandung City athletes who managed to bring home the most medals in West Java.

"This achievement is a real manifestation of hard work, passion, and dedication from all parties involved. I feel very proud and believe that this achievement is not only an inspiration for other athletes, but also for society as a whole," he said.

According to him, sports are not just about medals, but also have a big impact on people's physical, mental and character health.

"Sports make us healthier, stronger, and of course provide a more meaningful life. Let's continue to build high-achieving sports for the city of Bandung and West Java," he said.

Head of Bandung City Youth and Sports Agency Edy Marwoto explained that the medal acquisition from Bandung City athletes increased by 22 percent compared to PON XX in Papua. Likewise, the sports branches that were included increased.

"The number of sports we participate in has increased from 42 to 69. The medal tally has also increased significantly, reflecting the increasing competitiveness of Bandung City athletes," he said.

On the same occasion, Deputy Chairman of the Bandung City DPRD, Edwin Senjaya, also appreciated the synergy between the government and the legislature in supporting the world of sports.

"Bandung City has the largest contingent representing West Java in PON XXI. This award is a form of appreciation for their struggle," he said.

On the award night, the kadeudeuh money was symbolically handed over to eight representatives of outstanding sports figures, including athletes, coaches, and managers from PON XXI and Peparnas XVI, with the following names:
