PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government is targeting the absorption of 8,592 workers through the thematic labor-intensive program throughout 2026 to help unemployed residents, especially low-income groups (13/4/2026).
Head of the Bandung City Manpower Office, Yayan Ahmad Brilyana, explained that the program provides temporary jobs to maintain the socio-economic stability of the community.
"This program aims to reduce economic pressure on vulnerable groups while increasing people's purchasing power," said Yayan Ahmad Brilyana at the program launch at Saturnus Park.
He said the target of 8,592 workers came from 6,210 people proposed by the Development Planning Conference, 1,950 people from recess programs, and 432 people from the regular program.
Each labor-intensive package involves 50 participants and a number of assistants to carry out environmental activities in their respective areas.
In the initial launch phase, the city government implemented 15 activity packages with a total of 794 participants spread across 15 sub-districts and 7 districts.
The labor-intensive activities took place for 10 days from 13/4/2026 to 23/4/2026 with working hours from 08.00 to 15.00 WIB.
Participants receive a daily wage of IDR 175,061 as well as meal facilities, work equipment, and social security protection through the Employment Social Security Administration.
"All participants are registered with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, so they are protected in the event of work-related risks," said Yayan Ahmad Brilyana.
Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan previously stated that this program prioritizes residents from deciles One to Five or low-income communities.
Farhan explained that participants must also be a maximum of 65 years old and register through the sub-district office in their residential area.
"We focus this program on residents who really need it and don't have jobs yet," said Farhan.
The labor-intensive program is expected to provide direct income for residents while helping to reduce unemployment in the city of Bandung.
