PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government together with the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) plans to build a Central Medical Unit (CMU) in the Ujungberung area to strengthen emergency services and critical patient care.
The health facility is targeted to be realized in 2028 on the development land of the Ujungberung Regional General Hospital (RSUD).
Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan said the construction of the CMU is a form of synergy between the central and regional governments in increasing the capacity of health services for the community.
The Bandung City Government is currently exploring the availability of suitable land, while the construction of the facility is planned to use the central government budget through the Ministry of Health.
"The building is new. So the land is new, but it's still part of the regional hospital. This is outside the budget we've already set, as stipulated in the multi-year regional regulation. This comes directly from the Ministry of Health, for the people of Bandung City," said Farhan.
This collaboration is expected to strengthen health services and improve the capacity of regional hospitals to treat patients in critical conditions.
The Director General of Advanced Health at the Ministry of Health, Azhar Jaya, explained that the CMU will be equipped with a number of medical facilities, including an Emergency Room (IGD), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), & Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), hemodialysis services, operating rooms, and delivery rooms.
According to him, CMU will focus on emergency treatment and service rooms to improve the ability to handle critical patients in Bandung City.
With these facilities, it is hoped that the need for patient referrals to other hospitals will be reduced.
Overall, the CMU is estimated to be able to handle around 100 patients in critical condition if all service units are operating at full capacity.
The City Government and the Ministry of Health are exploring the development of the Cicendo Eye Hospital.
In addition to the construction of the CMU in Ujungberung, the Bandung City Government and the Ministry of Health will explore strengthening cooperation in the development of the Cicendo Eye Hospital.
The hospital has a strategic role as a referral center for eye health services as well as an education center.
The development plan includes the addition of facilities through a cooperative scheme utilizing land owned by the Bandung City Government, with the proposed financing coming entirely from the Ministry of Health.
These efforts are expected to strengthen the capacity of health services in Bandung City, both for the treatment of critical patients and eye health services.
