Bandung City Government and Singapore Government to Collaborate on Education and Investment

PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) and the Singapore Government plan to explore various opportunities for cooperation, including in the fields of economics, technical cooperation, and education.

"There are several opportunities and potential for cooperation that can be implemented between the cities of Bandung and Singapore, such as increasing human resource capacity, various educational institutions, and research in the cities of Bandung and Singapore," said the Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan when receiving the Singapore delegation at the Pendopo of the City of Bandung, Monday (14/4/2025).

In addition to human resource capacity, Farhan said, to improve competence, efforts are also being made to provide access to training, capital, and promotion for creative industry products from Bandung City to Singapore.

"The plan is to have investment collaboration in various technical sectors as well as exchange of knowledge about the environment," he said.

Not only that, he also highlighted the tourism potential in Bandung City which could be used as a medium of knowledge in Singapore as one of the cultural heritage cities.

"Pendopo, alun-alun, and city hall are among the locations that have historical value. Therefore, we are trying to collaborate with Singapore in the tourism city planning," he said.

Meanwhile, Singapore's Ambassador to Indonesia, Kwok Fook Seng, said he was ready to collaborate with the City of Bandung.

"There are many opportunities for cooperation, such as in the fields of economics, technical cooperation, and education," he said.

For your information, the Bandung City Government has collaborated with the Singapore Government in several activities, including in terms of increasing the capacity of Bandung City Government officials.

The “Singapore's Experience in Infrastructure Management and Corruption Control” training under the Singapore Cooperation Program was conducted in 2014.

This activity sent 32 officials and 10 regional apparatus to learn from Singapore about how to manage cities, the environment, and study the fields of technology and information.

Another collaboration is the participation of representatives of the Bandung City Regional Government in the Temasek Foundation International Leaders in Urban Government Program (TFILUGP) on 6-10 November 2017.

In addition, the participation of representatives of the Bandung City Regional Government in the 2nd Indonesia-Singapore Civil Service Exchange Program which is a collaboration between the State Civil Service Agency and the Civil Service College Singapore on January 8-12, 2024.
