PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government is ready to support the implementation of the house renovation program, including ensuring that regulatory aspects, procurement, and implementation in the field can run according to regulations.
This was stated by the Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan when accompanying the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait to directly inspect the location of prospective recipients of the Home Renovation Program assistance in Babakan Ciamis Village, Sumur Bandung District, Bandung City, Tuesday (6/10/2026).
The visit was part of an effort to ensure that the home renovation program was implemented on target while providing direct benefits to people in need of decent housing.
"Alhamdulillah, the Minister has already conveyed that with so many facilities, God willing, we can implement our shared aspirations, the President's housing program," said Farhan.
According to him, the various regulatory and procurement process facilitations provided by the central government provide an opportunity to expedite the handling of houses that require repairs.
The Bandung City Government is also ready to coordinate with the Ministry of PKP so that the program can be implemented according to target.
"Regulatory, regulatory, and procurement-wise, God willing, there will be no issues. It feels like it's going according to our expectations," he said.
Farhan also said that the Bandung City Government is committed to supporting efforts to improve the quality of community housing.
He hopes that collaboration between the central government, regional governments, and the community can continue to be strengthened so that the problem of uninhabitable housing can be addressed gradually.
Meanwhile, Minister of PKP Maruarar Sirait emphasized the importance of accelerating the implementation of the house renovation program in West Java, including in the city of Bandung.
He requested that various potential obstacles in the field be immediately anticipated, especially regarding the availability of labor.
Maruarar also encouraged the involvement of local resources in development projects. He believes that the house renovation program not only provides more suitable housing for the community but also creates job opportunities for local residents.
"Don't look far. Look here. We'll give you jobs for unemployed young people. The hardware store is also here," said Maruarar.
He believes the involvement of local communities and businesses is crucial to ensuring the program's benefits are felt more widely. In addition to home repairs, the project is expected to stimulate the local economy.
Maruarar emphasized the importance of transparency in the use of the home renovation program budget. The material procurement process must be publicly available, including material requirements, volume, unit price, and more.
During the visit, Maruarar directly inspected the condition of the homes of prospective aid recipients and explained the stages of renovation implementation.
For one of the houses visited, work is planned to start on October 12 and is targeted for completion on December 12, 2026.
The home renovation program in Bandung City shows significant improvement.
Based on data presented at the event, Bandung City received 110 housing renovation grants in 2025. This number increased to 1,458 in 2026.
This increase is part of the government's efforts to accelerate the handling of uninhabitable houses while improving the quality of life of the community.
One of the prospective aid recipients, Lia Nuriawati, a resident of Jalan Babakan Ciamis, said she was grateful that the house she had lived in for around 40 years had finally received renovation assistance.
Lia said that her house had experienced some damage, especially to the roof.
The house she lives in with her husband and two children still uses zinc and walls, while the family's economic capabilities mean that repairs can only be carried out as needed.
"Yes, I'm happy to receive assistance from the President and the Minister. My house can be repaired, so it won't get wet or leak anymore," said Lia.
He said that this assistance was the first assistance he had received after previously applying for home repair assistance several years ago.
With this program, Lia hopes the renovation process will run smoothly and her family can soon move into a safer and more comfortable home. (Bandung City Communications and Information Office/rka)
