PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) reached 110 people with Social Welfare Problems (PPKS) in 25 vulnerable points during the month of Ramadan.
Head of the Bandung City Social Service (Dinsos), Soni Bakhtiyar, said that collaboration involving various agencies such as the Social Response Unit (USR), Satpol PP, Dishub, TNI and Polri, had produced positive results in handling PPKS in Bandung City.
"The USR team together with various related parties, such as Satpol PP, Dishub, TNI and Polri, have worked hard to achieve this result," said Sony at Bandung City Hall, Wednesday (27/3/2024).
Sony revealed that outreach efforts involve various methods. These include notifications via official vehicles, social education in vulnerable locations, as well as appeals via traffic control technology tools (woro-woro) at road intersections.
"Of the 110 PPKS people we reached, the majority were beggars," he said.
Once reached, continued Sony, the PPKS were trained for 7 days physically, mentally and spiritually.
"Apart from that, this program also includes providing affordable physical and spiritual guidance to PPKS, reunification and social reintegration, as well as providing access to basic education and health services for those in need," he said.
Affordable locations include the Bandung Square Mosque, Jl. Otto Jalan Iskandar Dinata, Asia Afrika, Jakarta, Pahlawan, Cihampelas, Antapani intersection, Binong, Cikapayang Bridge, Balubur and Jalan Gatot Subroto.
