PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) has confirmed that it will provide assistance to residents affected by the fire disaster in Gang Misbach, Jalan Babakan Ciparay, RT 06 RW 02, Sukahaji Subdistrict.

This assistance includes meeting basic needs for affected residents and providing support for home repairs.

Deputy Mayor of Bandung, Erwin, who directly inspected the fire location, expressed his concern over the disaster that befell residents.

He also said that one victim suffered burns covering around 70 percent of his body and is currently undergoing treatment.

"On behalf of the Bandung City Government, we express our condolences for the tragedy that befell the residents of Babakan Ciparay. We also received information that one victim suffered burns covering approximately 70 percent of his body. God willing, if I have time, I will also visit the victim," said Erwin.

According to preliminary data, the fire affected five homes inhabited by seven families. According to Erwin, the Bandung City Government will act quickly to ensure the needs of affected residents are met.

"God willing, through the Social Services Department, we will help affected residents meet their needs for approximately one month," he said.

In addition to basic needs assistance, the Bandung City Government will also strive to restore residents' homes through various assistance schemes.

Erwin said that house repairs would be undertaken through the Uninhabitable Houses (Rutilahu) program from the Housing and Settlement Agency (DPKP), as well as support from Baznas and corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs.

"Then, for housing construction, God willing, we will provide assistance through the Rutilahu program from the DPKP. We will also coordinate with Baznas and CSR partners to assist affected residents," he said.

Erwin assessed that the victims were still experiencing trauma due to the disaster, especially one victim who suffered serious burns and was estimated to still need quite a long time to undergo the recovery process.

Therefore, he ensured that the Bandung City Government would continue to coordinate with regional authorities to oversee the post-fire handling process.

"God willing, the Bandung City Government will be there for residents experiencing a disaster like this," he said.

On that occasion, Erwin also appealed to the public to be more careful in using 3-kilogram LPG gas cylinders.

He reminded the importance of ensuring that gas cylinders and installations are in good condition to prevent similar incidents from happening again.

"This 3-kilogram gas cylinder has been involved in several fires (one of the triggers). So please be careful with this 3-kilogram gas cylinder and check it properly," Erwin urged.
