PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government through Mayor Muhammad Farhan is strengthening the disaster mitigation system in the sub-districts of North Bandung which have steep contours and a high risk of landslides (1/12/2025).
Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan conveyed this in the 45th edition of the Disaster Alert Siskamling in Ciumbuleuit Village, which has complex vulnerabilities based on the findings of Laci RW, ranging from collapsed houses, fallen trees, to the potential for landslides at several points.
The Bandung City Government considers the Siskamling forum to be a space for risk identification and accelerated response through direct reports from residents, such as piles of garbage in RW 01 and 14 landslides and limited clean water in RW 09.
"We'll survey the polling stations and the Buruan SAE to see what it's like. We'll also go to the landslide site," said Farhan.
The Bandung City Government also responded to reports of old trees in RW 04 and RW 05 by requesting an official report so that handling can be carried out according to procedure.
"As soon as you see a tree that looks worrying, report it to the village head. The village head and sub-district head must act quickly. Don't cut it down yourself, as there are regulations," he said.
Dialogue with PDAM Tirtawening revealed that the coverage of clean water services in Ciumbuleuit is only 37 percent, with a pipe leakage rate of 46 percent.
"We are currently negotiating to ensure that residents' water needs can be met," said Farhan.
The Bandung City Government issued immediate instructions regarding the repair of basic facilities such as street lighting after receiving reports of seven street lighting and three street lighting that were not functioning.
"Mr. Neighborhood Association, make sure it's fixed by tonight. If it doesn't work, call my staff immediately. I'll take action," said Farhan.
The Bandung City Government is now implementing a weekly recording and monitoring mechanism for all Siskamling orders to ensure more measurable follow-up.
"All of the Mayor's orders are recorded. Every Friday, they're tidied up, and on Saturdays, they're checked to see if they've been implemented," Farhan said.
By combining citizen reports, neighborhood unit (RW) analysis, and tiered reporting, the Bandung City Government considers the Disaster Alert Neighborhood Security System (Siskamling) a relevant early detection and infrastructure audit model for areas with extreme terrain like North Bandung.
