PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government will review the management partnership for the Pasar Baru Trade Center following the dynamics that have emerged since the Covid-19 pandemic. The review will consider legal aspects, management sustainability, and the interests of the vendors.

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan stated that the Bandung City Government has identified the root cause of the problems in cooperation agreements signed before the COVID-19 pandemic. He explained that the pandemic has had a significant impact on trade activities, necessitating adjustments to the existing cooperation scheme.

Farhan conveyed this while attending the Grand Gathering and Thanksgiving of Traders at the Pasar Baru Trade Center in Bandung City together with Husein Sastranegara International Airport at the Pasar Baru Trade Center, Monday (21/9/2026).

He explained that agreements made before the pandemic had quite strict provisions, limiting the scope for flexible solutions when conditions changed due to Covid-19.

"This is something we're constantly discussing. It's possible we'll conduct some kind of review of the agreement, which could lead to an addendum or new investors. We don't know yet. It depends on our discussions," said Farhan.

The Bandung City Government, along with Perumda Pasar Juara and PT DAM Sawarga Maniloka Jaya, will review the legal basis and possible management options. One area of concern is the investment value, which is deemed necessary to review post-pandemic conditions.

Farhan said the investment figure, which was previously planned to reach around IDR 800 billion, needed to be reviewed.

"We will now conduct a review, both with PD Pasar and PT DAM. We will first determine the legal basis for whether an addendum is necessary, whether we will partner with a new investor, or whether there are other management resolution alternatives," he said.

He stated that no final decision has been made regarding the management of Pasar Baru. All options are still under discussion.

According to Farhan, this process is important because it concerns the certainty of traders in carrying out their business activities as well as the relationship between the Bandung City Government and the regionally-owned enterprises (BUMD) that are management partners.

"The principle is that we want to restore the traders' trust in the management and the City Government's trust, as the Capital Owner's Authority (KPM) in the Regional-Owned Enterprises (BUMD). That's crucial," he said. (Bandung City Communications and Information Office/rka)
