PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government is preparing a sanitation solution in the form of a biotank-based individual septic tank to address the problem of dozens of houses without proper sanitation facilities in Pasirjati and Pasanggrahan Sub-districts (8/1/2025).
Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan conveyed this step during regional monitoring in RW Sepuluh, Pasirjati Subdistrict and RW Lima Belas, Pasanggrahan Subdistrict.
Monitoring results recorded that as many as 84 houses in RW Sepuluh Pasirjati and 38 houses in RW Lima Belas Pasanggrahan do not have proper septic tanks.
This condition has the potential to pollute the environment and have a direct impact on public health if not addressed immediately.
Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan emphasized that the Bandung City Government is adapting sanitation solutions to the character of residential areas.
Farhan explained that building a communal septic tank in Pasanggrahan Subdistrict was not possible, so an individual septic tank using biotank technology was chosen.
"In Pasanggrahan, communal waste management is not possible, so individuals use biotanks that don't need to be pumped out because the waste is dissolved in a special liquid," said Farhan.
He said biotank technology is more environmentally friendly and suitable for application in densely populated areas with limited land.
Muhammad Farhan asked residents who do not have a septic tank to immediately report it to the head of the neighborhood association so that immediate action can be taken.
"Residents who don't have a septic tank should report it to the neighborhood unit (RW). I'll come and build one. The important thing is that it doesn't fall freely," said Farhan.
The program is expected to prevent environmental pollution while improving the quality of public health in Pasirjati and Pasanggrahan.
