PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Four families in RT 06 RW 04, Nyengseret Village, Astanaanyar District, were left homeless after their house was destroyed by fire. The fire, which occurred several days ago, caused material losses of around Rp 30–40 million, leaving trauma and a new burden for the victims, who are now temporarily living in emergency housing.
In response to this situation, the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) through its relevant agencies has prepared quick steps to ensure that residents do not feel the impact of the fire for too long.
Deputy Mayor of Bandung, Erwin, said that even though the land occupied is an asset belonging to the city government, residents will still receive assistance in accordance with applicable regulations.
"Using the Rutilahu program isn't possible because this is city government land. But God willing, there is a solution. The DPKP (Regional Disaster Management Agency) has coordinated with Baznas (National Alms Agency). We are preparing emergency aid in the form of basic necessities, blankets, rice, and minor renovations so residents can return to their homes properly," Erwin said while inspecting the site on Friday (September 26, 2025).
According to Erwin, cross-sector coordination is key to ensuring swift post-disaster response. In addition to the Fire and Disaster Management Agency (DPKP), which was the first to respond, the city government also involved the Social Services Agency, the National Zakat Agency (Baznas), and potential CSR assistance from companies and the community.
"Most importantly, we ensure no residents are left stranded. We are here to provide reassurance and ensure their basic needs are met," he said.
On the other hand, the Bandung City Government also hopes for public preparedness in facing potential fires.
Residents are asked to pay more attention to the safety of electrical installations, provide light fire extinguishers (APAR), and maintain the surrounding environment to reduce the risk of fire.
"We also encourage sub-districts to propose fire extinguisher (APAR) provision programs through the Musrenbang (Research and Development Planning) program. Once it's included in the system, it will be easier to budget," Erwin explained.
One of the fire victims, whose house was completely burned down, said he was relieved by the government's attention.
"We are very grateful for the Deputy Mayor's visit. At least there's hope that our house can be repaired and that we won't be alone in facing this disaster," he said.
With these swift measures, the Bandung City Government hopes that affected residents can quickly return to normal activities. The Nyengseret fire also serves as an opportunity to strengthen collaboration between the government, the community, and the business sector in building a more disaster-resilient city.
