PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government accepted the handover of six buildings in the Bandung Zoo area that were seized by the state in a corruption case involving the unlawful acquisition of state land. The handover is part of the asset recovery and security efforts following the final legal decision.
The handover of confiscated state assets from the Bandung City District Attorney's Office to the Bandung City Government was marked by the signing of the handover minutes in the Bandung City District Attorney's Office Hall, Wednesday (21/10/2026).
The Head of the Bandung City District Attorney's Office, Abun Hasbulloh Syambas, said that the handover was the implementation of the court's decision and a form of the prosecutor's office's commitment to recovering state and regional assets.
"This handover is not merely an administrative process or physical handover of goods, but also a form of returning control of assets to the rightful party in accordance with court decisions and applicable legal provisions," he said.
The six buildings handed over include the old operational office built around 1957, the new operational office built around 2019, the animal hospital built around 1957, the nutrition warehouse built around 1957, the restaurant built around 2019, and the educational stage built around 2010.
Abun explained that the handover was related to a corruption case in the form of unlawful control of state land by the management of the Tamansari Wildlife Foundation in the name of the convict Sri.
The implementation of the handover refers to the decision of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia Number 2983 K/Pid.Sus/2026 dated May 12, 2026 along with previous court decisions.
According to Abun, the success of law enforcement is not only measured by the imposition of criminal sentences on perpetrators, but also by the completion of asset recovery and the return of goods to the rightful parties.
"Our prosecution is considered successful when it reaches completion. Completed means not only imprisoning the person, but also reclaiming their assets and evidence, or restitution of state losses," said Abun.
Meanwhile, Bandung City Regional Secretary Iskandar Zulkarnain expressed his appreciation to the West Java High Prosecutor's Office and the Bandung City District Prosecutor's Office for their efforts in enforcing the law and rescuing assets belonging to the Bandung City Government.
According to him, the handover is a crucial step in strengthening legal certainty and governance of regional assets. The Bandung City Government will follow up through data collection, administrative audits, and asset security in accordance with applicable regulations.
"The Bandung City Government affirms its commitment to continuously strengthening synergy with the prosecutor's office in law enforcement, resolving asset issues, and building transparent and accountable governance," Iskandar said.
He asked the relevant regional apparatus to ensure that all follow-up processes are carried out carefully and thoroughly, including aspects of legal security for the assets that have been handed over.
Specifically for buildings in the Bandung Zoo area, Iskandar emphasized the importance of considering public interest, legal certainty, and the sustainability of the area's function in every step of data collection and management.
According to him, asset rescue is the first step to ensure that regional wealth is protected and can provide benefits to the community.
"A good government is not only measured by the number of programs it implements, but also by its ability to uphold its mandate, protect public assets, and be accountable to the public for every decision," he said.
Iskandar hopes the handover of the six buildings will further strengthen collaboration between the Bandung City Government and the prosecutor's office, particularly in preventing unlawful asset acquisition and ensuring professional, transparent, and responsible management of regional assets.
