PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Mayor of Bandung, Bambang Tirtoyuliono, represented by Assistant for Government and Social Welfare, Asep Saeful Gufron together with Baznas Bandung City symbolically handed over aid in the form of money and basic food packages to residents affected by the earthquake in Sumedang Regency

This assistance was received by the Acting Regent of Sumedang, Herman Suryatman, represented by General Administration Assistant, Budi Rahman and Expert Staff for Economics and Politics of Sumedang Regency, Asep Sudrajat at the Sumedang Regent's Office, Thursday (25/1/2024).

Assistant for Government and Social Welfare, Asep Saeful Gufron, said that this assistance was a collaboration between the City Government ASN and the people of Bandung City.

The assistance provided was in the form of IDR 500 million and basic food packages.

"This assistance is a collaboration between ASN and Bandung City residents. "We, on behalf of the Acting Mayor and the people of Bandung City, express our concern over the disaster that occurred in Sumedang district," he said.

He hopes that this assistance can help ease the burden on residents affected by the earthquake in Sumedang Regency.

"We are providing assistance from ASN and community members to help our brothers and sisters who have been affected by the disaster, hopefully this can reduce the burden," he said.

"Hopefully it can be accepted and used by the residents of Sumedang," he added.

Sumedang Regency General Administration Assistant, Budi Rahman expressed his gratitude for the assistance provided by the government and the people of Bandung City.

He said that the aid would immediately be distributed to residents of Sumedang Regency who need it through the Sumedang Regency Emergency Response and Disaster Management Team.

"We appreciate the attention of the City Government and the people of Bandung City and we really welcome the assistance provided," he said.

Also attended were the Head of the Bandung City Fire and Disaster Management Service (Diskar PB), Gun Gun Sumaryana, the Head of the Communication and Information Department Yayan Ahmad Brilyana, the Head of the Bandung City Baznas Akhmad Roziqin, and the Head of the Suardi District Head Association.

The earthquake that occurred on December 31 2023 with a magnitude of 4.8 SR caused many residents' houses to be seriously, moderately or lightly damaged, spread across various areas in Sumedang Regency. (rdp*)
