PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) together with the Bandung City DPRD agreed on two Draft Regional Regulations (Raperda) to become Regional Regulations (Perda) in the Plenary Meeting of the Bandung City DPRD, Wednesday (17/6/2026).

The two draft regional regulations are the Draft Regional Regulation on the Implementation of Public Order, Peace, and Community Protection and the Draft Regional Regulation on the Prevention and Control of Risky Sexual Behavior and Sexual Deviance.

The Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan, expressed his appreciation to the leadership and all members of the Bandung City DPRD, especially the Special Committee (Pansus), for their dedication and commitment in completing the discussion of the two draft regional regulations.

"In this regard, we express our appreciation for the dedication, commitment, and all the efforts demonstrated by the DPRD special committee until the completion of the discussion of the Draft Regional Regulation on the Implementation of Public Order, Peace, and Community Protection as well as the Draft Regional Regulation on the Prevention and Control of Risky Sexual Behavior and Sexual Deviance," said Farhan in his response.

According to Farhan, the two regional regulations have an important role as a legal basis for maintaining public order and strengthening public protection in the City of Bandung.

"The two draft regional regulations concern the maintenance of public order, security, and public protection, as well as how we protect the public from various risky behaviors that violate the social norms and religious values we all believe in," he said.

Before making a decision, the Bandung City DPRD received a report on the results of discussions from Special Committee 13 and Special Committee 14.

Special Committee 13 stated that the drafting of a Regional Regulation on the Implementation of Public Order, Peace, and Community Protection is necessary to adapt regulations to the development of community dynamics, city growth, and changes in laws and regulations.

Through this regulation, the Bandung City Government is expected to have a stronger legal basis in maintaining public order, creating a sense of security, and increasing protection for the community.

Meanwhile, Special Committee 14 explained that the Regional Regulation on the Prevention and Control of Risky Sexual Behavior and Sexual Deviance was drafted as a preventive measure to address various social and health issues that are developing in society.

The special committee also stated that the regulation was not intended to create discriminatory treatment against certain groups or individuals.

The regulations focus more on aspects of prevention, control, protection, rehabilitation, guidance, and the imposition of administrative sanctions in accordance with the authority of the regional government.

After going through joint discussions between the DPRD and the Bandung City Government, the two draft regional regulations were finally approved by all factions in a plenary meeting to be stipulated as Bandung City Regional Regulations.

The Bandung City Government hopes that these two regulations will be effective legal instruments in creating a safe, orderly, and comfortable city, while also providing optimal protection for all residents. (Bandung City Communications and Information Service/rka)
