PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan said that the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) is accelerating the arrangement of urban infrastructure by cutting overhead cables on Jalan Veteran and Jalan Tera this week as a continuation of the arrangement of the area after Jalan Asia Afrika.
This step is part of an effort to organize the underground utility network to beautify the city's appearance and increase public comfort.
Farhan emphasized that a number of road sections had previously been completed, including Jalan Tamblong, Jalan Merdeka, and Jalan Lembong.
He said that cutting the overhead cables was part of a city planning strategy that was being carried out in stages and in a measured manner.
"This week we will cut the overhead cables on Jalan Veteran and Jalan Tera, followed by the Asia Afrika area," said Farhan at Bandung City Hall.
In addition to utility arrangements, the Bandung City Government also prioritizes repairing basic infrastructure such as roads, sidewalks, and drainage which have a direct impact on community activities.
However, a number of strategic road sections cannot yet be handled because they are still adjusting to the construction of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system.
Farhan said coordination with the BRT project was necessary to prevent duplication of work that could potentially waste the budget.
"We apologize, but for the time being we cannot touch Jalan Ahmad Yani, Jalan Asia Afrika, Jalan Sudirman, and Jalan Otto Iskandardinata because we are still coordinating with the BRT construction," he said.
He added that this synchronization is important so that infrastructure development can run more efficiently and in an integrated manner.
In addition, the Bandung City Government is currently preparing a design to handle flooding and inundation at a number of points that have been a problem during the rainy season.
Farhan is targeting a reduction in flooding before the rainy season arrives in the next few months.
He emphasized that infrastructure management is being carried out in stages to ensure the comfort and safety of Bandung City residents.
