PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) is preparing waste processing technology together with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Kemendiktisintek) and Danantara.
This technology is prepared to process significant amounts of waste while reducing the odor problem that disturbs urban communities.
Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan said the development of this technology is still in the preparation and exploration stage with relevant partners.
"God willing, there is good news. The Bandung City Government, the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, and Danantara, represented by CEO Mr. Sigit, will jointly develop a new waste processing technology that, God willing, will be able to process a significant amount of waste without producing an odor," said Farhan at Bandung City Hall on August 17, 2026.
This development is aimed at producing waste processing facilities that are able to meet the waste needs of Bandung City more effectively.
Farhan said the government and relevant partners would test the technology before expanding its application to waste management.
"We're still trying this," he said.
Concrete steps for this collaboration are scheduled to begin with a kick-off on August 21, 2026, to test its development readiness.
"God willing, this Friday we will kick off the collaboration between the Ministry of Research and Technology, the Bandung City Government, and Danantara," said Farhan.
This technology is expected to increase processing capacity while reducing odors so that residential environments become more comfortable.
The Bandung City Government places odor control as one of the main considerations in developing waste processing technology.
Farhan hopes that this innovation will provide a real solution to the waste problems faced by the people of Bandung City.
This technological development also opens up opportunities for implementing research-based solutions to improve the quality of waste management services for residents.
