PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - A total of 8.7 million liters of clean water have been distributed to communities facing water shortages during the dry season. As of August 10, 2026, water distribution had been carried out in 23 regencies and cities in West Java.

The Head of the West Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Teten Ali, said that the three regions that received the largest distribution of clean water were Bekasi Regency with 3.8 million liters, Bogor Regency with 1.5 liters, and Karawang Regency with 595,000 liters.

The large-scale distribution of clean water to these three regions was based on the large number of residents affected by the water source drought. In Bekasi Regency, 44,892 residents are affected by the water source drought, located across nine sub-districts.

Meanwhile, in Bogor Regency, 170,892 people across 30 sub-districts are affected by water shortages. Meanwhile, in Karawang Regency, 27,553 residents across five sub-districts are experiencing water shortages.

A total of 450,383 people, comprising 140,765 families, are affected by the water shortage in West Java. They are located in 153 sub-districts and 334 villages.

"Clean water assistance to the community comes not only from the district/city BPBD, but also from Baznas, the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), PDAM, and the Large River Basin Center (BBWS). In addition, Kodim, communities, and the business world," said Teten, Tuesday (11/8/2026).

Meanwhile, the West Java Provincial BPBD's support is demonstrated by lending several water tankers to distribute clean water in the city districts, continuing to map the dynamics of potential threats and socializing drought mitigation efforts on social media, as well as continuing to coordinate the availability of clean water with other agencies that have the resources.
