PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov) is sending 100 of the best kafilah members to take part in the 2026 National Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur'an (MTQ) XXXI competition in Semarang City, Central Java, on September 11-20, 2026.

The 100 caravans consisted of 56 participants, 17 instructors and 25 officials and companions.

The West Java delegation participated in all eight categories of the competition, consisting of eight branches and 27 groups. The eight categories are Tilawah (recitation), Qira'at (recitation), Tahfidz (memorization), Tafsir (interpretation), Fahmil Qur'an (Qur'an recitation), Syarhil Qur'an (Qur'an recitation), Calligraphy, and Scientific Writing on the Qur'an.

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi stated that he would increase the allowances for the West Java caravans if they win. First-place winners will receive an increase of Rp 200 million from Rp 100 million. Second-place winners will receive Rp 150 million, up from Rp 75 million.

The prize money for winning 3rd place also increased, from Rp. 50 million to Rp. 100 million.

He also gave a message to the kafilah who participated in the 31st National MTQ in 2026.

"Be the best, be honest, and there should be no principles that contradict the Quran," said KDM, Dedi Mulyadi's nickname, Thursday (10/9/2026).

With thorough preparation and guidance from the best teachers, the West Java contingent is ready to put on a maximum performance to bring honor to West Java.

The theme of the 31st National MTQ in 2026 is "Spreading the Light of the Qur'an in Harmony Towards a Civilized Golden Indonesia".

This theme encompasses four interconnected main dimensions: encouraging concrete action to ground Quranic values and strengthening social harmony. Furthermore, it affirms the spirit of nationalism within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), and presents the contribution of the Quran's universal values to global civilization.
