JAKARTA - The West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov) has won the Best First Place award in the 2026 Regional Development Awards (PPD) for the Provincial Government category at the national level. The award was presented directly by Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas Rachmat Pembudy to West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi at the Bappenas Building on Wednesday (September 30, 2026).
PPD is not only an instrument of appreciation, but also feedback on the quality of regional development planning and performance.
Rachmat stated that the 2026 PPD is expected to encourage regional governments to translate assessment results into improved development planning and implementation, aligned with national priorities. The award is also expected to boost innovation to achieve regional development goals.
Meanwhile, West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi in his speech after receiving the award said that (budget) limitations should not be an obstacle to providing public services for the people.
"Because regions with their limitations will stimulate innovation. For what? Innovation to provide public services to meet the community's basic needs," he stressed.
The West Java Provincial Government continues to strive to improve education by increasing the number of schools, adding new classrooms, and increasing the number of teachers. In terms of infrastructure, the government ensures that roads are well-maintained, wide, and long, with well-lit street lights and connected CCTV.
"Public welfare services, sanitation, and community housing must be improved. The budget for (uninhabitable housing) repairs has been increased from 17.5 million rupiah to 40 million rupiah because I want to improve people's lives," he added.
Next year, the West Java Provincial Government will further expand employment insurance by providing insurance coverage for informal workers such as farmers and fishermen to 5.7 million people.
