PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi will provide waiting money for the 12 survivors of the Virgo Transport 8 ship accident. The victims are now in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan.
Each survivor will receive Rp7 million in waiting money. "The breakdown is Rp2 million for their return flight, Rp1 million for provisions during their stay, and Rp4 million for their families back home, as they lost a month's worth of work on the ship," said KDM, Dedi Mulyadi's nickname, on Tuesday (September 15, 2026).
The 12 survivors consisted of 11 people from Garut Regency and 1 resident of Cianjur.
Meanwhile, if a victim dies, KDM will also provide condolence money to the heirs of IDR 25 million per victim.
He hopes that the Virgo Transport 8 ship accident will be the last incident and that there will be no more similar incidents.
