PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov) emphasized that the decision to cancel the establishment permit for the Islamic Development Network (IDN) Boarding School (IDN) Vocational School in Bogor Regency was a corrective step taken by the West Java Provincial Government to guarantee legal certainty and protect the educational rights of students.

The Head of the West Java Education Office (Kadisdik), Purwanto, said that the West Java Provincial Government has a responsibility to ensure that education runs according to the provisions of applicable laws and regulations.

"The West Java Provincial Government is committed to ensuring that all students receive good, safe educational services and have clear legal certainty," said the Head of the Education Office in a press conference at the West Java Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Office (DPMPTSP) Office, Bandung City, Thursday (12/3/2026).

Before the decision was taken, the Head of Education explained, the West Java Provincial Government had communicated and held dialogues with schools to find the best solution for the continuity of students' education.

"At the meeting held on January 21, 2026, he added, a number of steps were agreed upon to ensure the continuity of the educational process while also encouraging school administrators to complete the necessary licensing requirements.

Licensing Adjustments for Legal Certainty

Meanwhile, the Head of the West Java DPMPTSP, Dedi Taufik, explained that the cancellation of the permit to establish IDN Vocational Schools was part of the government's corrective action to ensure that the licensing process for providing education complies with applicable regulations.

"This step was taken to provide legal certainty for the public, while also ensuring the suitability of the educational facilities and infrastructure used by students," he said.

He added that, based on the evaluation results, there were shortcomings in the basic legal aspects of permits, particularly regarding the Building Approval (PBG) document, which is one of the requirements in the process of issuing a school establishment permit.

"Therefore, school administrators are asked to complete the licensing process thoroughly, following the applicable stages, starting with spatial planning compliance, issuing the Building Permit (PBG), and obtaining the Certificate of Functional Suitability (SLF)," he said.

West Java Provincial Government Facilitates Licensing Improvements

The Head of the West Java Legal and Human Rights Bureau, Yogi Gautama Jaelani, also emphasized the West Java Provincial Government's commitment to facilitating the licensing improvement process carried out by schools.

"The West Java Provincial Government will coordinate with district/city governments and relevant agencies to expedite the necessary administrative processes so that education can resume on a strong legal basis," he explained.

During this transition period, he continued, the government ensures that the student learning process continues through various prepared mechanisms, including temporary transfers to other educational units.

Anticipating Future Legal Problems

Similarly, the Head of the West Java Special Legal Team, Jutek Bongso, explained that this corrective step was a form of preventive effort to avoid potential legal problems in the future.

He revealed that there is currently an ongoing legal process regarding the school's permit. Therefore, the West Java Provincial Government deems it necessary to take adjustments to prevent future losses for students.

"The West Java Provincial Government wants to ensure that all students receive valid and legally binding diplomas, preventing future problems," he stressed. (Apun)
