PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Wings Air's inaugural flight on the Bandung-Lampung route officially took off from Husein Sastranegara International Airport, Bandung, Thursday, August 6, 2026. The resumption of scheduled flights was enthusiastically welcomed by the public because it provides a more practical air transportation option while strengthening the connectivity of Bandung City with the Sumatra region.
The inaugural flight with number IW1210 took off at around 13.50 WIB and served the route from Husein Sastranegara International Airport, Bandung to Radin Inten II International Airport, Lampung using an ATR 72 aircraft.
This route is the first scheduled flight to resume operations from Husein Airport.
Wings Air's Corporate Communications Strategic Officer, Danang Mandala Prihantoro, said the opening of this route is expected to make it easier for people to travel for various purposes.
"We hope this route will make it even easier for people to meet their various travel needs, whether for business, tourism, education, or family purposes," he said.
He added that Lion Group is also gradually preparing to open new routes to expand flight connectivity from Bandung.
"Starting tomorrow, Wings Air will also open flights from Bandung to Palembang, South Sumatra," he said.
Captain Ganda Barocta, the pilot of IW1210, said the inaugural flight went smoothly and left a positive impression on the entire crew.
"Our impressions of today's inaugural flight were very interesting and exciting. We hope this inaugural flight is a success and that more passengers will use this service," he said.
He also invited the public to take advantage of flight services from Husein Airport again.
"Let's fly together through Husein Sastranegara Airport. Come to Bandung and enjoy its culinary delights, tourism, and the many attractions the city has to offer," he said.
Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan welcomed the resumption of scheduled flights from Husein Sastranegara Airport through the opening of Wings Air routes to Lampung and Palembang.
"The Bandung City Government welcomes the commencement of Wings Air's inaugural flight from Husein Sastranegara Airport to Lampung on August 6, as well as the opening of the Bandung-Palembang route, which began operating on August 7," he said.
Farhan hopes that the presence of these routes will be the beginning of increased flight connectivity from Bandung to various regions in Indonesia and abroad.
"We look forward to the reopening of other regular flight schedules from various airlines, both for domestic and international routes," he said.
Passengers also expressed enthusiasm. Ghilman, a Tasikmalaya resident who was on the inaugural flight, expressed satisfaction with the service provided.
"My impression was quite good. The flight was also on time, making the journey comfortable. I hope this route continues to operate and that more routes to various regions will be opened in the future to make things easier for the public," he said.
Meanwhile, Elisa, a passenger from Lampung, said that the presence of direct flights makes mobility to Bandung easier.
"I happen to live in Lampung. With the opening of this route, visiting Bandung will be easier and feel closer," he said.
The resumption of scheduled flights from Husein Sastranegara International Airport in Bandung is expected to increase public mobility, strengthen economic, educational, tourism, and social relations between Bandung and various regions, and also be the first step in expanding the flight network from Bandung City to other regions in Indonesia.
