PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government together with the West Java Provincial Government held a joint operation to regulate Social Welfare Service Recipients (PPKS) on a number of main roads in Bandung City, Friday (11/9/2026).

In this operation, dozens of PPKS were successfully netted for further treatment.

Head of the Public Order and Security Division of the West Java Satpol PP, Gatot Sambas, said that the involvement of the West Java Provincial team in the operation was a form of strengthening the order activities that have been routinely carried out by the Bandung City Government.

He said that the PPKS handling pattern implemented by Bandung City would also serve as a learning material for other regions in West Java.

"If the PPKS enforcement in Bandung City is successful, it will become a pilot project for 26 regencies/cities in West Java," said Gatot.

He said that the West Java Provincial team, consisting of elements from the Social Services Agency, Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), Communication and Information Service, and other regional technical agencies, was present as a special reinforcement team to support the enforcement of PPKS in Bandung City.

According to him, the provincial team followed the pattern previously implemented by the Bandung City Social Services Agency, the Bandung City Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), and related regional technical agencies. This pattern was assessed through evaluation of previous activities.

"So, later I will be guided by and refer to the activities carried out by the City of Bandung," he said.

The joint operation targeted a number of points on the main routes of Bandung City, starting from the Pasteur Street area under the Mochtar Kusumaatmadja Flyover, Pasir Kaliki Street, Pajajaran, Wastukancana, LLRE Martadinata, and back to Gedung Sate.

Gatot confirmed that the joint operation was not only intended to provide temporary control, but also to produce an evaluation of various obstacles in the field and solutions to address them.

He hopes that the collaboration between the West Java Provincial Government and the Bandung City Government in handling PPKS can continue.

"We want to ensure today's activities run smoothly without any complications and result in several evaluations of the obstacles, then find solutions so we can resolve them together," said Gatot.

Meanwhile, Head of the Social Rehabilitation Division of the Bandung City Social Service, Irvan Alamsyah, said that outreach was carried out directly when officers found PPKS along the operational route.

He explained that not all groups identified are treated the same way. For some buskers, for example, officers issued warnings regarding operational time limits. Meanwhile, PPKS (Community Welfare Movement) groups, such as street children, beggars, "human carts," and "sack people," are still reached for treatment.

"When we see PPKS, we'll just distribute them immediately. So, don't wait for orders. If it's indeed people using carts or something else, we'll reach out to them immediately," said Irvan.

The PPKS who were successfully captured were then taken to the Bandung City Social Services' shelter in Rancacili. Irvan said his office had also requested additional social worker support from the West Java Provincial Government to conduct assessments on the PPKS who had been reached.

He hopes that the results of the operation can be summarized on the same day and submitted to the leadership as evaluation material.

"We hope to have a summary of the activity results tonight, and we can submit it to the leadership for immediate evaluation, so that future steps can be clearer and more structured," he said.
