PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) again conducted a crackdown on street vendors (PKL) in the Cicadas Market area on Monday (May 4, 2026). This was the third phase of the crackdown, which has been carried out in stages since early April 2026.

Head of the Public Order and Security Section (Kasie Ranmas) of the Bandung City Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), Pardiman Hendri, explained that this enforcement action was a continuation of the two previous stages that were held on April 8 and April 21, 2026.

"This is the third cleanup operation. So, we're implementing it in stages, starting on April 8, then April 21, and today, May 4. This activity will continue in subsequent stages," said Pardiman.

In this third phase of the operation, Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) officers demolished a total of 11 stalls, consisting of six kiosks and five trading tables. All of the stalls dismantled were unused or non-operational facilities.

According to Pardiman, a phased approach is being taken to avoid unrest on the ground and ensure the process is orderly and humane. Therefore, the current priority for evictions is focused on empty kiosks.

"We're prioritizing kiosks that aren't operational. Those that are still actively selling will be involved in the relocation process," he explained.

He added that the relocation plan for active street vendors will be further discussed with the Bandung City Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (KUKM) Office. This is in line with the planned redevelopment of the Cicadas area, which will be used as a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route.

"Because this area will become a BRT route, street vendors still operating will be relocated. Yesterday, a meeting was held with the Cooperatives and SMEs Agency, including discussions regarding the provision of relocation sites by the relevant parties. However, the technical details will be discussed in a follow-up meeting," he said.

To implement this enforcement, the Bandung City Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) deployed a platoon of approximately 30 personnel. The operation also involved regional elements from the Sub-district Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimcam).

"We're involving a combination of regional units, including Babinsa (village supervisory officers), Koramil (military command), Polsek (sector police), sub-districts, and village offices. Everyone is working together to ensure the enforcement runs smoothly," he said. (Bandung City Communications and Information Office/rka)
