Train Users from Garut Station Increase During the 2026 Eid al-Fitr Holidays

PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - PT Kereta Api Indonesia Daop 2 Bandung recorded a significant increase in the number of train service users from Garut Station during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr Transportation period. This increase shows the high public interest in using safe, comfortable, and punctual train transportation for homecoming and return trips.

As one of the key stations in southern West Java, Garut Station continues to demonstrate its strategic role in serving public mobility. Especially during the Eid al-Fitr holiday season, passenger volumes increase compared to normal days.

Based on collected data, on weekdays, the average daily number of passengers on long-distance trains (KA JJ) and local trains (Commuter Line) reaches 1,337. The average number of passengers departing from Garut Station is 590 for long-distance trains and 747 for local trains.

However, during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday period, data as of Friday (March 27) showed a significant increase of 48% compared to normal at Garut Station. The average number of passengers on long-distance and local Commuter Line trains reached 1,976 per day. The number of long-distance train passengers departing from Garut Station increased to 704, while the number of local Commuter Line trains jumped to 1,272.

Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 2 Bandung, Kuswardojo, said that this increase is an indication of the public's growing trust in train services, especially in the Garut area and its surroundings.

"The increase in the number of passengers from Garut Station during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period demonstrates that trains are the public's primary choice for travel. Beyond comfort and punctuality, we also continue to improve service quality to ensure customers feel safe and well-served," said Kuswardojo.

Kuswardojo also added that Garut Station currently serves various train journeys, both long-distance and local, which provides flexibility for the public in choosing their travel schedule.

From Garut Station, customers can enjoy two long-distance train services, the Cikuray and Papandayan trains, which connect Garut to various destinations. Additionally, two local Commuter Line trains are available, serving the daily mobility of residents in the Bandung Operational Area 2 area.

KAI Operational Area 2 Bandung remains committed to maintaining service quality, especially during the Eid al-Fitr holiday season, which is often associated with a surge in passengers. Various efforts have been made, from optimizing facilities and infrastructure to adding service personnel at stations, including establishing a post for the Garut Railfans Train Lovers Community.

With this increase, KAI Operations Area 2 Bandung urges all customers to plan their trips well, arrive at the station early, and follow all applicable regulations to ensure a smooth and comfortable journey. (Parno)
