PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Refugees from the Sumedang earthquake victims are gradually returning to their homes. Some other refugees live in refugee camps only at night, while during the day they carry out their activities as usual.

Head of Daily Implementation of the West Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Dani Ramdan said that his party continues to provide the logistical needs of all refugees.

"This means that some refugees are dynamic, they don't stay in the refugee camp all day long. However, we still provide logistical needs," said Dani on Thursday (4/1/2024).

According to Dani, the refugees came from several sub-districts affected by the earthquake, such as North Sumedang, South Sumedang and Cisarua. Dani added that West Java BPBD continues to help coordinate Sumedang BPBD in recovery efforts.

"We continue to help coordinate the Sumedang BPBD with other institutions such as the Social Service, West Java Health Office, TNI/Polri and others. Since the incident, we have also helped five tents for evacuation and evacuation of Sumedang Regional Hospital patients. We have also sent basic food and water assistance clean, as well as providing emergency response assistance," he said.

Meanwhile, based on information from Acting Sumedang Regent Herman Suryatman, PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono directly inspected the condition of Sumedang after the earthquake. Minister Basuki will help repair buildings according to light, medium and heavy criteria.

Herman has also declared emergency disaster response status on January 1-7 2024, to carry out post-disaster recovery, both for victims and damaged buildings.

"The Minister also said that it is not only about repairing cracked hospital buildings and so on. But he also wants to be able to improve the hospital environment," said Herman.

The PUPR Ministry will look at the RSUD master plan, so it will evaluate the existing conditions now. It is hoped that this can change the aesthetics and environment of Sumedang Regional Hospital.

"I also reported on the condition of Sumedang and post-earthquake handling and there were no buildings that needed to be relocated. The Minister asked that nothing be missed in the data collection. The government will help repair damaged houses based on the criteria of light, medium and heavy damage," said Herman.
