PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - A number of hotel and restaurant entrepreneurs stated that they will manage their waste independently. This is a form of support from entrepreneurs for the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) which is currently solving the waste problem.

Riung Priangan Chairman Arief Bonafianto admitted that several of his members were sorting waste independently, especially hotels.

The next stage, he together with the Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) and the Cafe and Restaurant Association (Akar) will record hotels and restaurants that use vendor or third party transportation services.

It will also be traced from transportation, sorting to waste disposal. This ensures that the City of Bandung is able to manage waste optimally.

"We will analyze it together so that it is clear, we will data this," he said at Bandung City Hall, Wednesday (23/10/2024).

"Our members consist of 3-star to 5-star hotels. Like the 5-star GH Universal and Trans Hotel, they are already able to manage waste independently," he said.

Arief admitted that each hotel uses different waste management methods. One of them is maggotization.

"Maggotization has been carried out, but this is not all maggot hotels. For example, the maggots at Grand Tjokro and El Hotel. There are also those who use machines, although we only process the organic ones. But the point is, the correct sorting method first, that's enough," he said.

Chairman of the BPD PHRI West Java, Dodi Ahmad Sofandi, is ready to support the Bandung City Government in protecting the environment, especially waste sorting.

"We are ready to support so that this waste can be sorted from its source. I hope that the existing regulations can be followed by every PHRI member," he said.

He hopes that village heads and sub-district heads will record and educate hotels and restaurants in their areas to manage waste independently.

"Provide massive direction, follow up with data and support from related agencies," he said.

Acting Mayor of Bandung A. Koswara appreciated the support given. He also continued to encourage the region to continue moving massively.
