PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. GARUT - Acting Regent of Garut, Barnas Adjidin, attended the Regency Working Meeting (Rakerkab) of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Garut Regency, in the Rectorate Hall of the Indonesian Education Institute (IPI) Garut, Garut Regency, Sunday (4/2/2024 ).

The Acting Regent appreciated the preparations for sports activities in Garut Regency to be the best.

The Acting Regent of Garut emphasized the importance of supporting and facilitating sporting events in Garut Regency. He also conveyed directions to prepare everything to ensure the smooth implementation of sports activities, so that Garut Regency can be the best.

"We are under instructions to prepare everything so that in its implementation there are no things that are not ready," he said.

Barnas said that this year was a busy year with a political agenda. Seeing this, Barnas considers that the Garut Regency Sports Week (PORKAB) event is considered suitable to be held in July.

"So we support the inner and outer body, we also want to invite elements of the business community to participate in the success of the activities which, God willing, will be carried out in July," he said.

The Acting Regent also reminded the importance of budget management to determine activity priorities so that implementation can run well.

Chairman of KONI Garut Regency, Abdusy Syakur Amin, explained that the Rakerkab discussed the activity agenda for one year and the addition of new sports branches.

"We can honestly say that currently the requirements have slightly tightened, the two candidates must be able to accept the commitment to provide achievements, because we see that there are still several sports that are still not optimal," he said.

Apart from that, the main topic discussed in this working meeting was the implementation of PORKAB Garut which is planned to be held on 21-28 July.

"Lastly we carried out Porkab in 2021, Porkab was supposed to be held in 2020, but because of COVID-19 we postponed it at that time," he said.

PORKAB Garut in 2021 was attended by 6,098 athletes in 19 venues who competed for 654 gold, 654 silver and 927 bronze medals, at which time the first winner was won by Tarogong Kidul District.

Abdusy Syakur also reported that this year the District Sports Committee (KOK) received assistance from the Garut Regional Government amounting to IDR 75 million per district.

"KOK received assistance of IDR 50 million per sub-district, and thank God, this year, God willing, Dispora has budgeted for it, the sub-districts will receive IDR 75 million per KOK," he said. (rdp*)
