PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - The Padjadjaran Cultural Parade, Milangkala Tatar Sunda, stopped in Garut Regency. The procession, known as Sancang Lugay, began at the 062nd Military Command (Korem) and ended at the Bale Dewa Niskala Building on Tuesday evening (May 5, 2026).

Garut Regency became an additional point in this cultural parade to fulfill the request of Garut residents after witnessing the excitement of similar parades in Sumedang, Ciamis and Tasikmalaya Regencies.

After the send-off process, at 19.30 WIB, the Sancang Lugay procession in Garut Regency began.

Residents of Garut Regency stood along the procession, which traversed Jalan Bratayuda and Jalan A. Yani for approximately 1.7 kilometers. Many also walked from the starting point to Bale Dewa Niskala, a journey that took about 30 minutes.

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi rode a white horse named Victoria, born in Parongpong, Lembang, and now 13 years old.

Behind Victoria, the Ki Jaga Rasa Golden Carriage, carrying the Binokasih Crown, was pulled by four white horses. Followed by two other carriages: the Nyimas Melati Golden Carriage and the Ki Jaka Sunda Golden Carriage.

The next procession was the Garut Regent's Riding Horse and the Garut Deputy Regent's Riding Horse.

About half an hour into the journey, the Governor arrived on stage to greet the waiting crowd. Then, they watched a performance by art studios representing 27 regencies/cities in West Java.

"There's no magic in this art performance. The whipping doesn't hurt because of magic, but because of the training and techniques learned. There's no trance. Anyone can do it as long as they practice regularly. They're strong enough to be whipped," said KDM, commenting on the art performance by representatives from West Bandung Regency, which received appreciation from the audience.

The Padjadjaran Cultural Parade will continue to Cianjur on Wednesday evening (6/5/2026).
