PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The decline in stunting prevalence in West Java in 2021-2022 exceeds the decline in stunting prevalence nationally in the same period. The decline in West Java's stunting prevalence rate in that period reached more than 4 percent, while nationally it was more than 2 percent.

Pls. Assistant for Government and People's Welfare of the Regional Secretariat of West Java Province, Dodo Suhendar, said that this achievement was thanks to the collaboration of all stakeholders in West Java, and would continue and be improved in the future.

"In the previous period, the stunting rate in West Java was more than 24 percent, and it was successfully reduced by more than 4 percent to 20 percent," said Dodo, at the 2024 West Java Province Proud Kencana Program Working Meeting in Bandung, Thursday (29/2/2024).

According to Dodo, the West Java Provincial Government continues to strive and innovate to reduce the prevalence of stunting. Collaboration and cooperation with various parties will continue to be strengthened.

"Of course, with the existing budget limitations, we continue to innovate, including collaborating with BAZNAS to empower the economy of underprivileged communities. Likewise with universities in West Java," said Dodo.

Deputy for Advocacy, Mobilization and Information at the Central BKKBN Sukaryo Teguh Santoso appreciated the performance of all parties in West Java who succeeded in reducing the stunting prevalence rate beyond the national figure.

"Of course it doesn't stop here, but we must continue to work, we reduce the stunting rate to 14 percent. In fact, the target in West Java itself is up to 13 percent," said Teguh.

Meanwhile, the Head of the West Java BKKBN Representative, Fajar Sentosa, hopes that collaboration and innovation will continue to be improved between the BKKBN, provincial government and district/city governments.

"Reducing the stunting rate from 20 percent to 14 percent is not an ordinary task, but must be extraordinary. Therefore, collaboration with government agencies and district/city governments must also be increased. That is what we will work on in the future," he said.
