PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Plant Nursery Unit of the Bandung City Housing and Settlement Agency (DPKP) provides free ornamental plant seedlings to support the greening of parks, road medians, and sidewalks.

The Bandung City DPKP Plant Nursery Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) produces various types of ornamental plants to meet the greening needs in various regions.

Acting Head of the Bandung City DPKP Plant Nursery Unit, Dian, said seedlings can also be donated to regional institutions for environmental reforestation needs.

"The Nursery Unit (UPT Pembibitan) is responsible for cultivating ornamental plant seedlings for planting on road medians and sidewalks. Some are also distributed to applicants at regional levels, such as sub-districts and districts," said Dian.

The Nursery UPT propagates plants using the cutting method from plants available in Bandung City parks.

The cuttings are then planted in polybags using a mixture of soil, compost, and manure until the roots are strong enough.

"To start our production from scratch, we usually take cuttings from available plant seeds. Then, we put them in polybags with prepared growing media," said Dian.

The seeds are used to meet the maintenance needs of city parks and support greening in various areas.

Regional institutions such as sub-districts, districts, and Community Empowerment Institutions can submit plant applications according to procedures.

Submissions are made by letter, either physically or online, while the handover of plants is accompanied by a handover report.

Plants provided to applicants are free of charge so that communities and regional institutions can obtain greening support.

However, the priority of the Nursery UPT remains to fulfill the plant needs for the parks managed by the Bandung City Government.

The existence of the Nursery UPT helps maintain the availability of ornamental plants while supporting a greener and more comfortable environment in Bandung City.
