PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - Bekasi Deputy Regent (Wabup) dr. Asep Surya Atmaja continues to intensify the employment roadshow agenda to various companies in Bekasi Regency.
The 14th working visit was carried out at two industrial companies located in the EJIP Area, South Cikarang, namely PT Kiyokuni Indonesia and PT SMT Indonesia, on Monday (28/4/2025).
Asep emphasized that this roadshow is part of the local government's active steps in reducing unemployment rates and strengthening relations between the industrial world and local workers.
Not only having direct dialogue with company leaders and opening up opportunities for cooperation with the Bekasi Regency Manpower Office in terms of local workforce recruitment, Asep also highlighted the importance of the readiness of human resources in Bekasi Regency to be able to compete in the industrial sector.
"We must prepare a workforce that has perseverance, tenacity, speed, strong mentality, and most importantly, their attitude must also be maintained," he said.
He also conveyed the need for a change in approach in industrial workforce recruitment. In the future, acceptance requirements will be prioritized for residents with Bekasi Regency ID cards, not just domicile, and it is even possible that diploma-based regulations will be born.
"Every year the number of graduates increases. We have to tighten it up. This is a big homework," he said.
Asep is optimistic that the target of reducing unemployment to 2 percent in the next five years can be achieved, although he admits that the challenges are great.
"Many say it is impossible, but we continue to try our best for the people of Bekasi Regency," he said.
Not only targeting large companies, this strategy also includes the involvement of local vocational schools through internship schemes. Asep also appreciates companies that have opened up space for vocational school students to intern and become prospective permanent workers.
"Of course, we hope that this internship program can be a gateway to the world of work for vocational school graduates in Bekasi Regency so that it can be an effective workforce absorption path," he said.
The Bekasi Regency Government (Pemkab) will coordinate with village heads to collect data on the number of job seekers in each region as a basis for mapping workforce needs.
The results of each company visit are reported routinely every week to the Regent as part of the evaluation of the regional employment program.
"Every week, the results of the roadshow will be summarized in a report to the Bekasi Regent as a basis for evaluation and follow-up of strategic policies going forward," he said. (Diskominfo Kab.Bekasi/UPI)
