PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. GARUT - The Regent of Garut, Rudy Gunawan inaugurated Jalan Letjen Ibrahim Adjie which is located in Tarogong Kaler District, Garut Regency (28/12/2023).
Before the ceremonial process took place, the Regent of Garut, along with other invited guests rode horses to the inauguration location and were presented with a beautiful panorama of Mount Guntur.
This inauguration was also attended by Danrem 062/TN, Colonel Arh Rudi Ragil Sang Putra, Deputy Regent of Garut, Helmi Budiman and the Garut Regency Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), and several other invited guests.
In his speech, the Regent of Garut, Rudy Gunawan, said that he and Helmi Budiman felt grateful to be part of the long history of Garut Regency which was founded in 1813 by the first Regent of Garut, namely Kanjeng Dalem RAA Adiwijaya.
"It is an honor for me and Dr. Helmi to be able to stand in front of you gentlemen as witnesses that we, who are part of the long history of Garut Regency, have built roads to ease public access to Garut Regency," said the Regent of Garut.
The Regent of Garut revealed that the construction of Jalan Ibrahim Adjie went through a process that was not easy, because this road is a very spiritual road because it is located at the foot of Mount Guntur. However, today Jalan Letjen Ibrahim Adjie can be inaugurated in front of the public and other invited guests.
Rudy said that the name Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Adjie was chosen as the name of this road, to pay tribute to Pangdam III Siliwangi 1960-1966, whose birthplace was in Garut Regency. He added that in 2015 the family moved the grave of Lieutenant Ibrahim Adjie from Bogor to Garut Regency.
"Garut or especially Wanaraja, especially Cinunuk (Village) is where he was born, so he was moved at that time with a military ceremony because he was Commander III of Siliwangi 1961-1964," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Garut Regency Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Service, Luna Aviantrini, revealed that the construction of Jalan Letjen Ibrahim Adjie has gone through a fairly long process, starting with land acquisition from 2016 to 2022.
Then it will continue with road construction from 2021 to 2023. Luna explained that his party plans to complete the construction of Jalan Letjen Ibrahim Adjie in 2024.
"Of course this will not be realized if the Regent and Deputy Regent do not pay great attention to infrastructure development," said Luna.
Luna explained that Jalan Letjen Ibrahim Adjie has a total length of approximately 6 km, starting from Jalan Raya Samarang to Sigobing which penetrates the provincial highway, with a width of 14 meters, consisting of 4 lanes and a median of two meters. He said that the construction of this road would cost approximately 150 billion rupiah.
Luna expressed her thanks to all parties who have supported, provided direction and encouragement to her party to immediately complete the construction of this road. He hopes that the inauguration of Jalan Letjen Ibrahim Adjie can function as an alternative road to reduce the traffic load to the urban areas of Garut Regency.
"And it is also a road to several tourist destinations so that it can encourage more tourists to visit Garut Regency, which can further improve the economy of the people of Garut, especially around these tourist destinations," he concluded.
