PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The spirit of building modern, inclusive, and sustainable cooperatives colored the Peak Commemoration of the 79th National Cooperative Day (Harkopnas) at the West Java Province Level which was held at the Senbik Building, Thursday (30/7/2026).

This activity was attended by cooperative people, cooperative movements, and ranks of the Regional Indonesian Cooperative Council (Dekopinda) from all districts and cities in West Java.

This year's National Cooperative Day commemoration is a momentum to strengthen the role of cooperatives as drivers of the people's economy while expanding the participation of the younger generation in the cooperative movement.

West Java Deputy Governor Erwan Setiawan, who opened the event, emphasized that cooperatives have a strategic position in regional economic development.

"Cooperatives are a major pillar in building the people's economy," he said.

Erwan emphasized that the values that underpin cooperatives remain relevant in facing today's economic challenges.

"Cooperatives are born from a spirit of togetherness, mutual cooperation, mutual trust, and mutual support. This spirit is what's needed to face today's economy," he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the West Java Regional Indonesian Cooperative Council (Dekopinwil), Yuke Mauliani Septina, emphasized the importance of regeneration so that the cooperative movement continues to develop in line with changing times.

"We continue to encourage the younger generation to learn about and be willing to participate in cooperatives," said Yuke.

Yuke emphasized the commitment of the West Java Dekopinwil to continue strengthening synergies with various parties in advancing cooperatives in the region.

"We are ready to move, unite, and impact the West Java economy," he said.

Apart from being a gathering place for cooperative people, the 79th Harkopnas commemoration also included a number of series of activities.

These activities included the presentation of Cooperative Health Certificates, the West Java Cooperative Awards in the form of awards to high-achieving cooperatives and cooperative driving figures, and the announcement of the winners of various cooperative education competitions.

The award is expected to motivate cooperatives in West Java to continue improving governance, innovation, and the quality of service to their members.

It is hoped that these efforts will also strengthen the contribution of cooperatives to regional economic development.

Also present at the event were the Daily Chair of Dekopin Priskhianto, the Deputy for Cooperative Supervision of the Ministry of Cooperatives of the Republic of Indonesia, Herbert Hot Ojahan Siagian, and cooperative movement administrators from various regions in West Java.
