PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Acting Mayor of Bandung, A. Koswara said that women in Bandung City have proven their abilities in various sectors of life.
This is something to be proud of, because the city of Bandung has many great women who play a role as leaders, educators, entrepreneurs, health workers, social activists, and various other professions that contribute to the progress of this city.
Women in Bandung City are not only the mainstay of the family, but also the driving force of the economy, social, and culture. Through various women's organizations such as PKK, Dharma Wanita Persatuan, Gabungan Organisasi Wanita (GOW), and other organizations, women have shown the same thing. improving community welfare," she explained at the Bandung City Mother's Day Commemoration event, at Graha Manggala Siliwangi (11/18/2024).
According to him, the commemoration of Mother's Day also reminds us of the importance of realizing gender equality and supporting women so that they can develop and contribute optimally.
"For this reason, the Bandung City Government continues to be committed through various women-friendly policies and programs," he said.
Koswara revealed a number of women-friendly programs. Among them:
1. Increase women's access to education, health and economics.
2. Encourage women's participation in decision-making and leadership.
3. Provide more space for women in various development fields.
4. Provide protection for women and children from violence, discrimination and exploitation.
In the same place, the Chairman of the Bandung City DPRD, Asep Mulyadi, said that a mother is a valuable asset that must be guarded and fostered with love, attention, and positive education.
"In this activity, a Women Empowerment Exhibition was also held. We can see various innovations, creativity, and extraordinary potential from women in the city of Bandung," he said.
This exhibition, said Asep, shows that women are not only capable of being the driving force of the family, but also the driving force of the economy, culture and society in society.
"We appreciate and hope to be able to create a wider space for women to contribute and have a say in development, both at the local and national levels," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Bandung City Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Service, Uum Sumiati, said that this commemoration was intended to pass on the noble values and fighting spirit of women to all Indonesian people, especially the people of Bandung City.
"The goal is to encourage the realization of equality between women and men in family life, society, nation and state and to increase the role of government and non-government agencies in gender-responsive development," explained Uum.
Uum said that several collaborative activities with various stakeholders were:
1. Bandung Police in the launch of the month of love for children.
2. Capacity building coaching for administrators of women's organizations that are members of the Bandung City Women's Organization Association (GOW).
3. Training for 30 WJWE trainers at the sub-district level.
4. Provision of business capital in the form of social assistance for female heads of households (Pekka).
5. Provision of business capital for women at P2WKSS locations.
